MSX 2010 -> MSX2013 Migration (CrossForest)

Hi @all,

DomainA - MSX2010

DomainB - MSX2013

DomainA < Crossforest - Forest Trust > DomainB

In my case here the customer want to have new User Accoun't in DomainB (DomainA - fnln ... DomainB Fn.Ln)

My Planing here is now:

1.) Get all Informations (OU, Groups, Users)

2.) Create the Exports from 1.) in DomainB

3.) Adapt Informations from Users DomainA with ADMT to Users in DomainB

4.) Prepare-Moverequest.ps1 from MSX2010 to MSX2013

here in Pt. 4.) i am not sure how can i prepare to make the Prepare-Moverequest.ps1 from UserDomainA to UserDomainB?

Thx for help

I don't understand what you need to prepare.  I would certainly test the process using test mailboxes.

Hi Mr. Crowley

sorry i try to write my Problem more exaktly

Mailbox UserA will be created in DomainB as UserB manually by PS1 cause of new nomenclatur

With an dedicated ADMT Server all Information's will be copied from UserA to UserB included SID HistoryTo move the Mailbox information's from UserA to UserB i don't find any Parameter in the Prepare-Moverequest.ps1 from MSX2013 so is my question how can i manage this...

Is it enough to use $Identity from UserB and the Prepare-Moverequest.ps1 will recorgnize it by SID-History?

I think, when i make Prepare-Moverequest.ps1 than UserA with the "old/false" nomenclatur will be created in new Domain.

I can't answer your question. I recommend you test it with some test accounts.

Hi,

If run ADMT must run first before prepare-moverequest, ADMT will migrate the user accounts from the source forest to the target forest, users will be created or merged by ADM, SID history and password synchronization along with other AD attributes could be merged from the source forest to the target forest. By default ADMT is excluding all Exchange attributes.
Then Prepare-moverequest.ps1 will use the existing user account and overwrite the attributes in the target account by the attributes in the source account and most importantly migrate all the required attributes, so the MEU is ready to move the mailbox.

Heres an blog about cross forest migration from source forest running Exchange 2003 to target forest running Exchange 2010: http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2011/06/10/exchange-2010-cross-forest-migration-step-by-step-guide-part-i.aspx
